Development and Evaluation of a Novel Taqman Real-Time PCR Assay for Rapid Detection of Mycoplasma bovis: Comparison of Assay Performance with a Conventional PCR Assay and Another Taqman Real-Time PCR Assay ‡
The objective of this study was to develop and validate a Taqman real-time PCR assay for the detection of Mycoplasma bovis (M. bovis). Unique primers targeting the highly conserved house-keeping gene (uvrC) were designed and the probe sequence was derived from a previously published microarray study. There was 100% agreement in the outcome between our assay and the other two published assays fo...

Rapid quantitative detection of chytridiomycosis (Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis) in amphibian samples using real-time Taqman PCR assay.
Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis is a major pathogen of frogs worldwide, associated with declines in amphibian populations. Diagnosis of chytridiomycosis to date has largely relied upon histological and immunohistochemical examination of toe clips. This technique is invasive and insensitive particularly at early stages of infection when treatment may be possible. We have developed a real-time PCR...
متن کاملDevelopment of a serum-based Taqman real-time PCR assay for diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis.
We compared an Aspergillus fumigatus-specific Taqman real-time PCR assay for the diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis (IA) with the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay Platelia Aspergillus method. Patients with proven or probable IA had positive results with at least one of the two methods. The PCR method seems to be more specific, and a combination of the two should improve the diagnosis of IA.
متن کاملTaqman real-time PCR assay based on ORFV024 gene for rapid detection of orf infection.
In this study, a TaqMan real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay was developed to detect and quantify orf virus (ORFV) DNA in infected cell culture and clinical samples. Primers and probes were designed to amplify an 87 bp fragment DNA based on the sequence of ORFV024 gene encoding an NF-κB inhibitor of orf virus. The assay was highly specific and sensitive for ORFV DNA and no cross-reac...
